SIZZLING sausages and juicy tomatoes will be on the menu at Parklands Community Centre in Whaddon later this month.

The centre, in Wyman's Road will be serving up fried breakfasts to punters during Cheltenham race week from March 16 to 19.

Funds raised by the venture will be pumped back into the centre, which runs a range of activities for more than 250 people.

Community worker Fred Powell said: "Race week is always a good week for us as it gives us a chance to raise plenty of money for the centre.

"As well as offering breakfasts we will be doing lunches in the afternoon and putting on entertainment in the evening. There should be a great atmosphere."

Volunteers at the centre will be holding an Irish evening on Wednesday March 17, a horseracing night on Thursday March 18 and a disco on Friday March 19.

In addition to race week activities, Parklands is set to appoint a new entertainment committee to line up a host of new activities for the coming year.

The committee was due to be appointed last week but was cancelled after several members were unable to attend.

The rescheduled meeting will take place at the centre at 8pm this Friday.
