POLICE patrolling Cheltenham town centre tonight will be bolstered by the presence of street pastors.

The churchgoing volunteers will be on hand to give out bottles of water to people who have indulged in too much alcohol and foil blankets to help keep people warm.

“Nice to see Christians doing something good - I always chat to the pastors in town at night, they don't proselytise, and they're genuinely nice people.

If only all Christians were like this, unlike the Catholic church which seems pre-occupied with hiding paedophiles amongst their midst.”

    “This is unbelieveable!

Do-gooders providing free water and blankets for a bunch of morons who, through their own stupidity, drink too much and haven't got the common sense to dress warmly when it's cold outside???
I think these "street pastors" need to get a grip and direct their (undoubtedly well-meant, if naive) efforts to people in real need. No-one gives two hoots about these drunken idiots with too much money to spend, nor should they.”

“How will they "bolster the police presence"?”
