Peace Day call on domestic violence

POLICE are calling for a day of no domestic abuse.

They will be joining hands with hundreds of organisations across the world in supporting the International Day of Peace on Friday.

Although the campaign concentrates on encouraging a cease fire in war zones for humanitarian aid, the principle is extended to all forms of violence.

Detective Inspector Kevin McCloskey, from the constabulary public protection bureau, said: "Peace Day 2012 is an opportunity to unite on a scale never seen before and bring the issue of domestic violence to the fore.
