"We already owned a range of quality designs that we could put online to be personalised. You can't get our cards on any other site," he said.

"For other online card businesses, accessing exclusive, quality products can be a problem.

"The other advantage is the distinctive nature of our products.

"Being primarily about a cheeky, slightly risqué sense of humour, TheDogsDoodahs.com occupies its own specific niche."

The firm works with a number of companies in Gloucestershire and the South West.

They include Cheltenham-based Chase Media Solutions, which buys air time for national television advertisements, and Webnetism at Staverton Technology Park, which designed and hosts its website.

This year, TheDogsDoodahs.com spent more than £250,000 on a Father's Day television advertising campaign.

It is one of several key seasons for the enterprise and was the company's biggest television advertising campaign yet, reaching across large parts of the UK.

It was the fourth TV advertising campaign the business has run in the last 12 months.

Others included campaigns for Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and for birthday cards last summer.

Tony added the spend was part of a larger strategy.

"We are in the business of building a long-term brand name," he said.

While its online presence is a recent development, the firm is an established supplier to high street stores with famous designs like On The Ceiling and Odd Squad being produced at their Tewkesbury base.

It uses an online personalisation process, which allows customers to buy cards online, altering the names and text of templated jokes and content.

The website has also introduced a range of personalised gifts including Champagne-packaged with a cheeky label and photo upload.

These, like the personalised cards, can be sent the same day directly from the Tewkesbury operation.

TheDogsDoodahs.com, formed in 2010, employs 18 people in the town.

Emotional Rescue moved to its current base five years ago, from Cheltenham.

The UK greetings card industry is worth a reported £1.3billion.
