“I'm all for cycle paths/tracks that get the cyclists off the road. The trouble is all too often it's the cyclists who ignore their designated tracks and remain on the roads causing traffic congestion. There should be a law to prosecute cyclists who use the road when adjacent there's a cycle track. Then of course there would have to be a police officer and that's another joke.”

“@L804XDG - if you pass any road user too closely you'll be driving without due care. I see from your profile that you're a 4x4 driver, and a stereotypical one at that (moronic, inconsiderate, incompetent, and so on) so your behaviour isn't particularly unexpected.

Suppose this scenario for a minute: because you're a big tough guy in your big touch guy's car, you pass a cyclist too closely while towing your trailer of stuff destined for fly-tipping. Something causes the cyclist to wobble (such as the draft caused as you pass); the cyclist clips the kerb. Your vehicle and trailer pass the cyclist, who then falls in to the path of an articulated truck that's following you. What will you do then? Will you continue to be the complete idiot that you are, or will you feel some remorse for your utterly moronic attitude?”

“well dont say I pass you lot too close if theres a cycle path, I also pull up 2 inches from the kerb in the 4x4 with trailer on to prevent such foolishness!”

“geraint2010 - the Maisemore one is badly surfaced, wiggles along as it follows the hedge line, and is tortuous in its routing at the Gloucester end - no wonder people don't use it!”

“Fine but will they use it? There is a lovely purpose-built Severnside cycle track alongside A417 near Maisemore yet some lycra-clad eejut yesterday was battling the elements, riding two yards out in the road, risking his neck and causing a long tail-back of traffic.”
