Plan rejected over flood fears
PLANS to convert a former Tewkesbury High Street nightclub into flats and a restaurant have been rejected again by the borough council.
Bill Heaney, on behalf of London-based Nos 6 Limited, submitted new plans for the former home of the Riverside nightclub.
They were almost identical to those rejected by the council in 2011 and by an appeal inspector in February.
Both were against the scheme because the developer had failed to consider building the homes on other sites in the wider Tewkesbury area, less at risk of flooding.

“That's a bit worrying, Isn't the Riverside right on the High Street. If it's unsuitable because of flooding concerns where does that leave all the other businesses and flats along there? Does this mean that nothing can be done with redundant buildings on Tewkesbury High street anymore. Sounds crazy to me.”
