Planning cash available to Gloucestershire parish and town councils
CASH is on offer to town and parish councils concerned about building developments.
Brandon Lewis, under secretary of state from the Department of Communities and Local Government, visited Stroud to discuss neighbourhood planning.
At a meeting with the town's MP Neil Carmichael he said up to £37,000 is available to support councils and their planning and consultative processes. "Now is the time for parish and town councils to start planning, and to take control," Mr Carmichael said.

“"To take control" of what Mr. Carmichael? If they take the money they will be expected to identify housing sites and thanks to the coalitions "relaxation" of planning law this could be a nice little wedge in the door for something more grandiose. Sometimes it's wise to look a gift horse in the mouth.”
