Plans to build 92 homes on abattoir site to go ahead
CINDERFORD'S regeneration is progressing after formal approval was given to build 92 new homes.
It will see the current Ensors abattoir buildings demolished in Valley Road, with the company moving elsewhere in the town.
Developer Kier will build the homes, and Ensors' relocation to Forest Vale is described as a "top priority" by Forest of Dean District Council and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), which is leading the regeneration programme.
On Thursday, the council's planning committee was presented with details of the project, described in reports as a "design-led exemplar scheme" and made up of 40%affordable housing, with the rest going on sale on the open market.
