Police are searching for a man who asked a teenage girl to get into his car.

At around 9:15 am on Sunday a 14-year-old girl was approached as she walked along The Chipping in Tetbury.

A man driving a silver car pulled up alongside her, opened the car door and asked the girl if she wanted to get in.

The girl declined and walked away and the man drove off into a nearby car park.

The man did not touch the teenager or attempt to force her into the vehicle.

He was described as black, around 24-years-old and approximately 5ft 4" tall.

He was wearing a dark blue crew neck sweatshirt and matching dark blue jogging bottoms.

Sergeant Rich Smith from the local policing team said: "We are aware that there will be concern from parents following this incident.

"Whilst no crime has been committed we are carrying out a thorough investigation and would like to speak to this man and anyone else who was in the area yesterday morning."

The driver in question, or anyone with any information about the incident, is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 140 of February 12.

You can also give information anonymously by contacting the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org and you may receive a reward of up to £1,000 if someone is arrested and charged.
