Police and housing officers from Gloucester City Homes carried out a surprise visit to flats in Munsley Grove, Matson today after reports from residents about anti-social behaviour.

On entering the building officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis and identified the flat it was coming from.

They seized cannabis from the tenant and a visitor to the address was also arrested for possession of the class B drug.

Both men, aged 23 and 27, received formal police cautions for possession of cannabis. The confiscated drugs will now be destroyed.

PC Andy Plant, Community Beat Officer from Hucclecote police station, said: "Local police work closely with the housing providers across the city to address issues that the community raise with us.

"In this case complaints of anti social behaviour in the property were received and we have responded quickly to investigate what is going on.

"In doing so we have come across some illegal drugs use and have taken positive action."

Anti Social Behaviour officer for Gloucester City Homes Neil Duffy said "The tenant of the address where these drugs have been found will now be subject to tenancy action. Any further illegal activity in this flat or from this tenant could result in him losing his home."

If you are having problems with anti-social behaviour involving people in your community and wish to pass on this information, contact the police by telephoning 101. All calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.
