MORE eyes and ears in Prestbury would help police to do their jobs.

At a meeting with residents this week, officers hailed the impact of neighbourhood watch schemes on reducing crime.

And they said they would welcome more of the community-run organisations in the village.

Sergeant Mark Stephens, or Whaddon Safer Community Team, said: "From our point of view it would be ideal to have a neighbourhood watch in every street.

"It's useful to have as many eyes and ears on the ground as possible. It's not about spying - just looking out for one another and being alert to anything out of the ordinary."
