Police have not ruled out the possibility of a hit-and-run and are keeping all lines of inquiry open. Officers are asking for anyone who may have seen a red Yamaha YZFR6 motorbike travelling in the area to contact them.

Meanwhile, condolences have been paid online.

One, from a poster called Barney0123, said: "So sad, such a waste of a young life. My thoughts are with the family and friends,

also the poor motorist who was first on the scene. Who ever you are Young Man R.I.P. God Bless you."

Another, from Tracey Swain said: "Terrible tragedy, prayers to the family." The scene of the tragedy was near to where 18-year-old Joshie Lee was seriously injured when his silver Vauxhall Corsa hit a tree in August.

The Lydney teen is out of intensive care and has began walking again.
