A CRACKDOWN on anti-social behaviour in Prestbury and Lynworth has been launched.

Operation Jay will involve officers patrolling the areas' streets on Thursday and Friday nights this month.

The patrols, which will be carried out by the Whaddon Safer Community Team, follow reports of anti-social behaviour in the Lynworth Exchange area.

PC Helen Conway, who is organising the initiative, said: "We have found these seem to be the key times that we receive calls about anti-social activity.

"We hope by being a visible presence we will offer reassurance to residents as well as deal with any problems that we come across."

Members of the Youth Service will join police on the patrols and will speak to young people on the streets.

PC Conway said: "The youth centre is currently closed in Lynworth so we hope to be opening up Prestbury pavilion on those nights as an alternative.

"The comment we hear from young people time after time is that there is nothing to do.

"This is not an excuse for bad behaviour but we hope by addressing these issues we will help to prevent a lot of the problems."

by Fed Up, Crime ridden St Pauls

“That¿s where the Whaddon Safer Community Team go than, and why we cant get a officer from Whaddon to police St Pauls. Guess we are the wrong side of town. They seem to be able to crack down on anti-social behaviour there and everywhere but let the anti-social behaviour and crime build up in St Pauls.
We are part of their INA as well but perhaps they choose to forget this.
If any one reads this please take note, as the service we get here is dreadful, so much so most of the residents have moved out, and most houses are now rented. As the council have moved a lot of families on with tons of empty houses, just waiting to be broken or some are even set on fire. Its about time they dealt with it and brought some more families into the area .
We here in St Pauls have no youth centre hence the youth here with their mates from local areas cause havoc , with the lack of the police in the area its going to get worse.
Its about time Whaddon Safer Community Team wake up and smell the coffe instead of drinking it.”
