Police warning after two boys caught playing on railway crossing
POLICE are warning children to keep away from railway lines after two boys were caught playing on a train crossing.
Officers were called to the crossing on Swindon Lane in Cheltenham at 3.35pm on Wednesday after a pair of nine-year-old boys were spotted playing there. A police spokeswoman said: "Officers quickly attended and spoke to the boys and gave them strong words of advice about keeping safe when playing in the area, and obeying the warning signs and lights."

Gloucestershire Constabulary
Sergeant for the area, Mark Stephens, is urging parents to discuss the dangers of railway lines with their children.
He said: "Playing on or near the railway tracks and crossings could have truly dreadful consequences, and they are not places that should be considered as playground by local children.

“That's really scary.
Utmost respect to Walker100. It's a very selfish way to get killed and horrififc for those who have to clear up.”

“Happens all the time in Lydney when I head home from work. Hope they wake up and realise how dangerous it is!”

“Having picked up the remains of a human struck by a train I was told that it would not be reasonable to take pictures and video and take it around the schools. In one, the largest piece of body, most of the torso, landed 75 meters away, there were twelve identifiable parts that probably made up around 80% of a normal body. The rest was hosed away.”

“Perhaps the children, together with parent or guardian, should be made to visit a mortuary, to see the result of a train-track death. And be made to listen to a train driver's account of what its like to live with the fact that it was his train that was responsible for a death over which he had no control”

“You would think that 9-year-olds are old enough to know the dangers of playing on a railway line, or in the road - yet these 2 have managed to do both at the same time. Perhaps the parents of the boys should also have been visited by the police (or perhaps they were, but TiG haven't reported it)?
Have to assume these boys haven't seen the current ad on TV about railway dangers...???”
