Pony found dead with a broken neck in Elmstone Hardwicke

A PONY has been found dead in a ditch of a field at Elmstone Hardwicke.

Police are investigating the animal's death after it was found with a broken neck.

The equine travelled through a small gap in dense hedgerow and barbed wire, an electric fence and across a field where it was later found.

It is thought to have got out between 7pm on Thursday, September 6 and 4pm on Friday, September 7 and was found in the field in the village.

The incident was reported to police at around 11.30am on Saturday, September 8.

A spokesman for the police said: "Officers are investigating the circumstances around the animal's death and whether any individuals were involved.

"As such are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 192 of September 8."
