Post Christmas workout
The Friends of Barnwood Arboretum will be holding the next work session on Saturday January 19, meeting as usual at 9.30am on the bridge into the Arboretum. Justin Hobbs from the city council will be joining us and leading a group clearing unwanted poplar saplings and possibly pruning willows. Other jobs include clearing bramble in the beech enclosure, laying chippings on the paths and weeding an area that was sown with bluebell seeds and planted with native anemones several years ago. Activities on the day will be dependant on the weather and conditions but we hope to be able to have a go at most of these jobs.
You are very welcome to join us at 9.30am (meet on the bridge into the arboretum). For further details and advice on which tools to bring phone 01452 533480.

We usually finish with a hot drink at about 12 o'clock.

“This is a much better way to shift the pounds and doesn't cost anything, this is big society at it's best.
There are a lot of other places you can volunteer to do outside work that will help you keep fit and meet new people. You could try one of the two local heritage railways or even if you have the time volunteer as a special constable.
