Prayers for those lost in road crashes
LOVED ones who died on our county's roads were remembered at a special service at Gloucester Cathedral yesterday.
Prayers were sent up for more than 20 people who died in crashes dating back more than 65 years.
Their names and dates of passing were written on special oak leaves.
One was for Helen Ruth Cridland, who died aged 10 months on May 15, 1947.

As they were placed on the altar, a prayer was said asking for them and all road crash victims to "rest in peace" and for those who mourn to be "blessed with courage and strength today and every day".
The annual service marked World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
Jackie and Mike Blakeman from Broadway have attended every year since their 22-year-old daughter Zowie died in 2002.
She was 22 when she died in an accident while on holiday in Cornwall.
Many lose their lives on the county's roads every year.
Those who have died in collisions in 2012 include 19-year-old Jake Gardner, of Guiting Power, who died on November 5, Bob Chaplin, of Cheltenham, who died on November 4, Julie Stodart-Cook whose life was taken in Alderton in May, Gwendoline Golding, who died in July, and 23-year-old Alexander Ward. He died in July following a collision with a horse box.
In 2011, those who lost their lives included Richard Angove, who was killed in October in a car crash in Nottingham, Robins' hopeful Marcus Powell who died aged 16 after being involved in a crash while out jogging, and Robert Brush, who was 22 when he died behind the wheel having lost control of his new motor and crashed into trees and a wall.
Nathan Smith also died in 2011. He was a cruiser who was returning home to Stroud after a Sunday cruise in Cheltenham when he lost control going into a bend and his car hit a tree. He was 18.
Katherine Gamboa, 20, from Upper Slaughter, died in June 2011. She passed away after a head-on collision on the outskirts of Cheltenham.
