Prison cell air vents 'look like Saturn V rocket'
THE air vents for a new block of 50 prison cells at Gloucestershire's police headquarters have been likened to the "bottom of a Saturn V rocket" by a Quedgeley councillor.
City councillor Andrew Lewis (C, Quedgeley Severn Vale) said: "It is going to be a modern building that isn't too intrusive.
"It has a venting system that looks a bit like the bottom of a Saturn V rocket, for those of us old enough to remember them."
The block will house suspected criminals at the Waterwells Drive base and will see the closure of the existing custody suite at Bearlands.

“I am absolutely disgusted that these clients of the Constabulary have to put up with this eyesore. It is bad enough that they have been caught and incarcerated, but to have their visual aesthetics and pre-conceived conceptions of the cells dashed is an abuse of their human rights.
When will society start putting them first instead of the victims....I despair. Hopefully they will not be imprisoned for too long and a criminal friendly judge will see it from their side.”
