Programme success for rare breeds
WALKERS on Leckhampton Hill have been sharing their treks with some young calves.
A breeding programme with the Dexter cattle that graze on the hill above Cheltenham is proving a success.
As well as three offspring being born in recent weeks, there is now another one on the way.
Among them was this little calf, named Guy after it was born on Bonfire Night.

Wayne Sedgwick, who helps to maintain parts of the land through his job as the borough council's community ranger, said the breed was rare.
He added: "We're expanding our breeding programme and this year it's been successful.
"We've managed to get three calves and there is another one expected.
"This calf is smaller than a dog and the mother is quite protective.
"The Dexter is a rare breed."
