This is the perfect time of year to think about buying or selling if you wish to move in before Christmas.
Estate agents are expecting a busy time after a more active summer period than expected.
Jon Plant, area manager at Andrews and Partners in Gloucestershire, said: "We absolutely echo this campaign. This time of year is incredibly important. We've just come off the back of a very busy August and in the last two weeks buyer numbers and instructions have increased considerably.
House prices are rising and are set to continue to do so.
"September and October are traditionally busy months and the next four to five weeks are critical for people who want to move in before Christmas.
"Those that sell before the end of September are likely to get a higher price for their property if they sell in active months."
Simon Trippett, area sales manager at county-based The Property Centre, agreed this was a good time to buy or sell.
He said: "We are seeing more first-time buyers out on viewings actively looking to buy. Prices in Gloucester are remaining fairly stable with modest increases in popular areas. This is a great time to get onto the property ladder."
