Punishment for football thug is 'no deterrent'
PUNISHMENT dished out to a football thug from Cheltenham for assaulting ex-England goalkeeper Chris Kirkland is not enough, say Echo readers.
This week Aaron Cawley, from Hester's Way, was jailed for four months for running onto the field at Hillsborough and striking Kirkland in the face during a match between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United.
The 21-year-old Leeds fan has also received a six-year football banning order and been forbidden from entering the club's Elland Road stadium for life.
Dozens of people have gone onto Echo website www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk to voice their opinions.
