Pupils in Gloucester cheer on their World Cup star teacher
PUPILS in Gloucester are cheering on their sports teacher as England take on New Zealand in the Women's Rugby World Cup Final.
Danielle Waterman, school sports co-ordinator at Ribston Hall High School, will compete in the crunch match at Twickenham Stoop on Sunday.
She has been instrumental in England's World Cup Campaign so far, scoring two tries in the team's 37-10 quarter final win over the USA, earning her Sky Sports HD Woman of the Match, and went over for another try against Australia in Wednesday's semi-final win.
Head teacher Mandy Chong said: "Danielle is a really committed sports woman and a great ambassador for the school. She is a fantastic role model for girls and young people across the school sports partnership and through her work with that team she is able to positively influence thousands of young children.
Danielle added: "I'm unbelievably excited for tomorrow," she said.
It is also lining up to be a dream week for her England team-mate.
Stroud-born Amber Penrith is getting married six days after she hopes to play in tomorrow's match. Amber was educated at Leonard Stanley Church of England Primary School and Maidenhill Secondary in Stonehouse.
