Pupils in Gloucestershire to retake English GCSE
PUPILS in Gloucestershire are among thousands across the country sitting down to retake English GCSE exams next month.
The decision to offer free re-sits for pupils was taken after exam watchdog Ofqual ruled pupils' work in January had been treated more generously than those in June.
Students had until October 4 to re-enter.
At Gloucester Academy, half of pupils who felt they had been unfairly treated will get the chance to up their grades next month.

Out of the 10 pupils that were affected there, five have chosen to take up the offer.
Head teacher John Riley said: "This shows that pupils that took their exams at different times were marked in different ways and this does not seem fair.
"For so many nationally to be retaking their exams only goes to show it is a problem."
Exams will take place on Wednesday, November 7 with results due to be announced on Wednesday, December 19.
