Ready? Steady? We've got a winner
A JUNIOR masterchef beat local celebrity cook Rob Rees in a school's Ready Steady Cook-style contest.
The young champion of the BBC Masterchef programme Tom Barlow-Kay, 12, was voted winner by the audience at Thomas Keble School.
Foodies who watched the challenge also learned how to make pitta during a bread-making demonstration by baker Dominic Salter. The evening, which raised over £500 for books for the school's new library, ended with canapes made and served by GCSE catering students.
"It was lovely to see so many people come together to celebrate cooking in schools," organiser Jane Haynes said.
