Recognition for groundsman Hemming
THE annual general meeting of Dumbleton Cricket Club was a cause for celebration.
For the second year running the club's groundsman Geoff Hemming has been awarded Groundsman of the Season for the Glos/Wilts Division of the West of England Premier League.
Hemming has been responsible for the ground at Dumbleton for more than 30 years.
The first XI had a mixed season. They were unlucky to be relegated by one point, but a big success was reaching the semi-final of the National Village Knockout Competition – the furthest point reached in the club's history.
They only missed out on a trip to Lord's by eight runs in defeat to Rottingdean CC.
Club spokeswoman Lisa Sharp said: "The club has more social events planned to back up all the efforts made to play a good standard of cricket on some of the county's best wickets."
