Redpath blasts 'unacceptable' defeat to Exeter
FUMING Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath blasted his side’s lacklustre performance in the 22-10 defeat at Exeter as unacceptable and embarrassing.
The Cherry and Whites failed to perform the most basic of tasks when going forward at Sandy Park throwing a number of forward passes and spilling knock-ons at will.
The result was only Gloucester’s second defeat on the season’s opening weekend in the last decade and Redpath let his under fire troops know it was not good enough.
“When you play for Gloucester and that was an unacceptable performance,” said Redpath.
“It is not about coaching or fitness or anything else, you can not function as a professional athlete like that, that was not good enough it is as simple as that.
“The amount of simple line breaks and simple opportunities we created but our execution was poor, there were six forward passes.
“That is hard work to get in a position to come forward with the ball.
“That is not the passer’s fault it is the guy catching the ball’s fault and I am not hiding from the fact that it was unacceptable.
“I thought our basics were not good enough and that is a concern because for three weeks we have been pretty efficient in most of our game defensively and attack we have been efficient.
“Today was unacceptable for a team that should be playing for Gloucester.”

“We don't need to take any lessons from Exeter. We managed to lose the game all by ourselves.”

“I think you have to look at how Exeter approached this game, which was to stop a mighty Gloucester playing to their strengths. Down yer, Gloucester are legendary, so we get a very very committed Exeter side where every player are totally committed which makes it easier with a full house. It is always going to be difficult. I believe Gloucester will react well and rebound from this.”

“'unacceptable' - then why did he (Mr Redpath) accept it and not make any changes until it was too late! If the game plan is not working then change it or are our players too thick to remember more than one thing at a time - oh and when your kicker is having a mare change him - my 15 year old could do better!
Sorry, but, professional? this team and its managemnet is not!”

“US President Harry S Truman had a sign on his desk " The buck stops here".
Perhaps a copy could be made for Bryan Redpath?
Sadly nothing has changed from last season - dismal performance and the same lame comments from the Head Coach who can certainly talk the talk Monday to Friday but can't walk the walk on Saturday.
We're now down to two coaches but I don't think anyone would notice if we were reduced to zero.”

“Yeah, we all know that that is unacceptable, but what about the goal kicking? Why was nothing done about that? Could Bryan not hear the Exeter supporters laughing at Nicky Robinson as he missed kick after kick after kick? We needed to keep the scoreboard ticking over to remain in touch. As it was we handed the win to them on a plate.
Once again, Gloucester Rugby is the laughing stock of the rugby world. And it bloody hurts, man!”
