Reflections on the life of badgers
PATIENCE was truly rewarded when Dursley resident Clive Mowforth bagged these superb pictures of local badgers.
Dr Mowforth, a chemist by profession, said he was having his best year for photographing the stunning animals.

"The usual formula was used ... studying behaviour, having good equipment, knowing how to use it, and a huge dollop of patience," he said.
One cub particularly delighted Dr Mowforth by not running away when his flash light went off.

"It is very sad that some people think the only way to control cattle TB is by trying to shoot badgers in the dark," Dr Mowforth said.
"Surely in the 21st century we can think of a better way to control this horrible disease."

“Oh!oh!..shouldn't have had that burgundy with my lunch. It should of course be "regular"”

“Hey you should have been in my garden when my regular visitor, a peregrine falcon took out my other regualr visitor a collared dove. Then it came back the next day and took out the collared doves partner. Of course I haven't got too many photo's of the peregrine because it isn't so cute as a badger but heigh-ho. Such is life.”

“2ladybugs - perhaps your friend should have been in my garden when a cat ripped a young collared dove (one of my regular visitors) to shreds. Unfortunately the dove was not lucky enough to be sewn back together. This is nature and nature is cruel. We on the other hand are supposed to be the superior race and should be able to resolve our problems and entertain ourselves without inflicting pain and death on other living things”

“Hey....this camerman should have been there when one of these dear little creatures, namely a badger, ripped my friend's cat to shreds. The cat had to have extensive surgery to sew it's stomach back into place.”
