Remarkable Romeo is schoolboy champion
BREAM'S Romeo Romaeo clinched a fantastic National Schoolboys' title in Braintree, Essex, on Sunday.
Romeo, 14, become the first Forest Oaks boxer to win a national crown by defeating Clarke Titterton 12-8 (computer scoring).
The margin of victory would have been greater, but Romeo was penalised two points for holding.
Forest Oaks coach Les Brooking said: "We're delighted to have our first ever national champ and Romeo will now box for England in the British Championships."
There was disappointing news for Lydney's rising star Cameron Thomas. The 12-year-old lost his National Schoolboy final against Durham-based fighter Isaac Milburn by the smallest possible margin.
His coach Bryan Higgs said: "I thought Cameron was superb.
"It was all on the last round and we could not believe it when they announced a score of 3-3. It had to go to count-back and the judges made it 6-6.
"Each of the five judges then had to make a decision as to who they thought had won, and Cameron lost out 3-2."

“the final score of the contest was 10-8, this would have been far less had any of Clarks punches registerd in the first round, Clark won round two 4-1 and round three 4-2 ,Romeo won the first round 7-0 which left a large section of the crowd bemused with the scoring , the contest will happen again in the near future!!!”
