Rescue operation to free trapped driver in St George's Road
AN OVERTURNED Mini-Cooper has forced the closure of St Georges Road in Cheltenham this morning.
The injured driver is a 54-year-old woman from Cheltenham.
She was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with back and arm injuries which are not life threatening or life changing.
She was conscious when emergency services arrived at the scene and throughout the rescue.

It is understood she was travelling at low speed in her red Mini Cooper towards the town centre when she lost control of the car, crossed into the opposite lane and clipped a parked Rover. Her car flipped onto its side and she was trapped inside.
The emergency services were called at 7.09am and it took firefighters around an hour to free the woman from the car. They had to cut the roof off the car.
The car was recovered at 8.50am and St George’s Road was re-opened at around 9am.
Rob Craig, 41, watched the emergency services working to free the driver from the car.
He said: “They were working to get her out of the car when I got here at around quarter to eight. They’ve cut off the roof.
“They got her out around eight, I think, and they were seeing to her and then they put a neck brace on her and then put her on the stretcher and took her to the ambulance.
“I just hope she’s ok. Obviously it was a really bad accident.”

Which set of statistics are you taking account of ?
How about the "men have more accidents than women" ? It doesn't take into account that generally there are more male drivers, it's done on a number not a percentage.”

what an idiotic statement!! have some respect, this woman luckily isn't seriously injured.
The police will investigate the cause of the accident, though I believe technically there is no such thing as a motoring accident, there is always a reason, (I am not saying that this driver falls into any of these, I am just giving them as an example) whether it be mechanical, road conditions, driver error, driving under the influence of either drink or drugs, not concentrating on the road, driving too fast for the road conditions.
