A GROUP of Leckhampton residents is calling on people to have their say on what council services should go in predicted budget cuts.

Finance bosses at the Municipal Offices believe funding could be slashed by up to 40 per cent – with £2.4m falling next year alone – when Chancellor George Osborne announces his comprehensive spending review on October 22.

Officers have published a checklist which people can use to say which services they want to see protected, reduced or cut entirely when the Government takes an axe to its budget.

To get more people from Leckhampton involved in the process, a group of residents has set up an interactive poll where people can vote on where the cuts should take effect.

Jamie Marsland, one of the co-founders of the site, said: "We wanted to give the growing digital community the opportunity to join in with the budget consultation process.

"The concept is really exciting and we wanted to do our bit to help get as much resident engagement as possible."
