Pedestrian in critical but stable condition following College Lawn crash
A SERIOUS crash involving a car and a pedestrian left a woman with potentially life threatening injuries this morning.
The woman, thought to be in her forties, was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after she was struck by a vehicle at the College Lawn junction with Thirlestaine Road shortly after 11am.

The incident caused a handful of roads to be closed.
The junction of Bath Road and Thirlestaine Road as well as the Sandford Road junction with College Lawn were blocked off.

Gloucestershire Police reopened the roads just before 2pm.
The injured woman is currently in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

“@safeandnice - in Cheltenham we have an excellent oncology department. Other towns don't have that, so people travel for hours for treatment. Bristol has an excellent head trauma unit - Cheltenham doesn't.”

“ok - I thought we paid to have such services in Gloucestershire and so they'd take the patient across the road to Cheltenham for assessment. My mistake. More explanation in the article woud have helped”

“Safeandnice.........We now have regional trauma centres where those suffering the worst injuries are taken. Our nearest trauma units are Frenchay in Bristol to the South and the QE in Birmingham to the North. Those that don't meet the criteria for the regional centres are taken to Gloucester Royal which is the county trauma unit, Those that don't meet the criteria for being taken to Gloucester Royal are then taken to Cheltenham General or can go to minor injuries units. Hope that helps.”
