Roadside car sales trader to be investigated
Car sales at Naas Lane in Quedgeley are to be investigated by Gloucester City Council.
Parish councillors say they are worried about the roadside activity.
Councillor Anna Mozul, chairman of Quedgeley Parish Council, said: "I have seen cars constantly being sold on there."
Gloucester city councillor Andrew Lewis said: "We will get the enforcement officers out to see what can be done about it.

“Acording to the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, it's illegal to sell more than one vehicle at a time on a road, see below:-
Exposing vehicles for sale on a road
2—(1) A person is guilty of an offence if at any time—
(a)that person leaves 2 or more motor vehicles parked within 500 metres of each other on a road or roads where they are exposed or advertised for sale, or
(b)that person causes 2 or more motor vehicles to be so left.
Selling cars from the side of the road has been going on for years and years but it appears that nothing is being done about it. Apparently it's so bad in some areas that there is no room in a street for residents as the spaces are taken up with cars for sale.
Of course the other thing to consider is that if people are running a business without the necessary authority or paperwork that's probably illegal as well as I believe you have to have Planning Permission to run some businesses from home.”

“This appears to be an issue in various parts of the city. Bristol Road, from approximately the Bristol Hotel to Morelands Trading Estate is especially problematic for residents and traders alike. Gloucester City Council are aware of these vehicles for sale, but to date, have done nothing to resolve the matter.”

“There is also a house on the Bristol Road heading towards Quedgeley, in the right hand side opposite the Honda garage, that has a different car on the pavement advertised for sale almost every day.
The same with the cars on the roadside outside Quedgeley KFC as well.
These cars also, curiously, have 12 months MOT's, one careful owner etc etc etc. Very odd.”

“The residents of Finlay Road in Gloucester are the worst offenders, on any given day you can find a dozen or more old bangers on the grass verges on either side from the St.Barnabas roundabout to the crossing by the chip shop with 'for sale' signs all with rather dubious 12 months MOT's.
Haven't these people heard of ebay or autotrader.com?”
