Rolling out road repair programme
WORK continues on improving roads around the county as highway teams near completion of a resurfacing programme which will see 89,000 square metres of new surface laid.
Gloucestershire Highways is in the midst of an effort to improve roads in a programme which includes a robust programme of resurfacing as well as patching up, surface dressing and "micro-asphalt resurfacing".
Micro-asphalt surfacing is a cost effective solution for resurfacing roads showing the early signs of wear and tear, a county council spokesman said.
It fills in all the cracks, potholes and voids in the carriageway, improves skid resistance and seals the road preventing water getting into the road and extending its life. The road does not need to be closed off for lengthy periods, saving time and money and reducing disruption to motorists as it can be reopened soon after treatment.
