Roman forces occupy school for history lesson
ROMAN centurions invaded a Cheltenham school yesterday, but it was all to teach an important lesson.
Pupils at Charlton Kings Junior School dressed up in costumes from ancient Rome as part of their studies on the Roman Empire.
Children in Year 4 have been studying aspects of the civilisation during the last half term.
Keeping to a tradition at the school, they finished their trip through history with a day dressed in togas and as Roman soldiers.

Around 100 pupils took part in the day. Teachers also joined in the fun, putting on costumes from the ancient world. During the day, the pupils made shields and created artwork.
A school spokesman said: "This is something which the children do every year.
"The staff join in as well by dressing up in their togas.
"After learning about the history, the children did some writing about Rome and created some artwork.
"It was a lot of fun and we had all the children dressing up either as centurions or in their togas."
