HISTORY is getting a technical update with a new mobile phone application showing life in Roman Cirencester.

The Corinium Museum is using the app to give its visitors an enhanced tour.

Cirencester firm TapMob has created the application for the Cotswold District Council-run museum, which features all the key archaeological sites.

The app can also function away from Cirencester so it will appeal to anyone interested in Roman Britain or studying the topic.

Museum curator Amanda Hart said: "We're harnessing the benefits of mobile technology as a tool to link the town's Roman history with our display objects."
