Rose-Anne Galligan through to semi-finals of 800m in European Indoor Championships
Cheltenham international athlete Rose-Anne Galligan has made Saturday's women's 800m semi-final after winning her heat at the European Indoor Championships in Sweden this afternoon.
Galligan, who runs with Gloucester AC and represents Ireland, won her heat in two minutes and 3.62 seconds after it had to be restarted after Albanian runner Luiza Gega appeared to not hear the starting gun.
Speaking after the race in Gothenburg, Galligan said she feared she had done something wrong when the competitors were called back to restart the race.
But she said she was pleased with qualifying.

She said: "I felt good out there.
"The first aim was just to make the semi-final. So it's my first time in championships to actually make the next round.
"I will speak to my coach now to see what the plan is for tomorrow."
Galligan was a late call-up to the Ireland squad, which meant her coach, David Farrow, was unable to join her in Gothenburg.
Also through to Saturday's semi-finals are Great Britain's Jennifer Meadows who ran her heat in a time of 2.02.88.
