Runners to tackle Big Apple event
THE running bug has bitten a father and son at Bourton-on-the-Water.
Ben Sands, who owns the Rose Tree Restaurant, and son Will, plan to compete in the New York Marathon on Sunday.
Caterer Ben was inspired to follow in the footsteps of Cotswolds landlords Hugh Kelly and Charlie Pettigrew, from the Hollow Bottom, at Guiting Power.
Dad and boy have amassed £2,000 for the Macmillan Cancer charity so far.
He said: "Our friends at the Hollow Bottom were entering so we decided to join them.
"We have all lost parents recently."
First-time runner Ben is training while running the business but his son, a fitness instructor, is already in good shape.
