HAVE YOUR SAY: Hunting
The Countryside Alliance claims hunts across the West are facing increasing scrutiny from anti-hunt monitors.
Pro-hunt leader Simon Hart, chief executive of the Alliance, called for unity among hunters in the West after hunt supporters in the north and the east of England were questioning the need for a repeal of the controversial hunt ban – because few of them ever saw an anti-hunt monitor.
-

Meanwhile anti-hunt groups in the West once again launched a new recruitment drive for hunt monitors amid claim hunts are continuing to routinely break the ban four years on from its inception.
What do you think of the hunting ban now it has been in place for four years?
Has it been a success, or is it being flouted?

“You think they are vermin two when they come into your towns and cities, but instead of manning up and dealing with the problem you box them up and dump them back in the countryside! Then when we try to deal with the ridiculous numbers you call it animal cruelty!! Do you think that a fox which has grown up in the city will know how to survive in the county - no it will more than likely starve to death. That is animal cruelty. There is nothing more natural than one animal being killed by another. It is called survival of the fittest! And in that vain it is only the ill and injured thus un fit animal that the hounds are quick enough to catch anyway so again rather than being cruel, hunting is quite clearly a nature friendly and necccesary part of country life.”

“The hunts keep telling us they welcome any one so why complain about being videoed if you are not doing any thing wrong then you have noting to fear from being recorded.
Just before hunting with dogs was banned the Countryside Alliance asked hunts to sign a petition to say hunts will not stay with in the new law, Now for hunts being monitored they asked for it by saying they will not keep with in the law if a criminal gets recorded committing a crime they can not say I have a right to commit crimes as I don't like the law.
It's very simple to understand don't brake the law and you will not get reported for a hunting crime.”

“I think that the ban has not been flouted. I know that the fear of the legal system and the fear of prosecution has frightened hunting people. But I think that this is a policy which shows how the government is taking away the right's and the feedom of people in this country. I believe a referendum on whether or not the ban should be stopped or not, to reflect the real views of the people in this country.”

“Henry.....Who cares about hunting?
Pro-hunters.
Anti-hunters don't care about hunters one iota I assure you, they are more concerned with animal welfare, vermin as you call them, or not.”

“To Henry Goodchild, Cheltenham ...
So by the same token, to continue your 'who-cares-about-hunting' stance, pro-hunters are just a bunch of idiots with too much time on their hands.
Or are, you, secretly, a pro-hunter? Hmmm? It's okay, you're among friends here, just admit it....”

“Who cares about hunting? They're only killing foxes after all. The fewer foxes around the better as far as im concerned. People who moan about hunting obviously have very miserable lives and should look for somthing to do with their time rather than moaning about a few dead vermin”

“I think everyone is entitled to their opinion on this matter but as for the comment left by Janice Whoolly about gunning her engine and driving fast past a group of horses, I would like to say that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable and completely dangerous. I ride and have my own horse and the majority of drivers are sensible and considerate. It is unfortunate that there are idiots out there like Janice who think it is funny to endanger people's lives by driving irresponsibly on our roads.”

“Nigel Bean, Leighton Buzzard
Class war?
Pro hunters are the new lower classes, you are Countryside Chavs.
And when you spout nonsense such as 'hey, even hunt opponents wants to keep hunting'....well then you sound ridiculous.
Get civilised. Be real.”

“To the uncivil member of society, At least Six high ranking officials from the main opposition to hunting (League against cruel sports) left stating a ban would only lead to more cruelty as other methods are employed to kill the fox, so cruelty obviously is not the issue.
A Labour MP went on record as stating after the ban was introduced along the lines of ¿we should come clean this had nothing to with animal welfare it was just good old fashioned class warfare at work.
So stop trying to kid yourself chum, I repeat, if you make a law based on spite, prejudice and class hatred in a democratic society it will never last long. Goodbye to the hunt ban and good riddance.”
