HAVE YOUR SAY: Icons of the decade
They became the faces on the front of every newspaper and were the names on everyone's lips but who gets your vote for the icon of the decade?
Does Goldenballs himself David Beckham score your vote? Or how about fashion and TV iconic character Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City?

He might have only been President of the United States for a year but does Barack Obama get your vote?

“Me here,
How do you know there was no year zero,.
we have a clear record back to the year 1000, but no further and as it now seems that Jesus Christ was born around what we call 4 AD so in all probability the year 2000 was in fact 1996 AD so it all becomes irrelevant
but the second milennium definately started on 1st January 2000, Tony Blair said so when he opened the O2 Arena so it must be right.
Icons, Jeremy Clarkson”

“Me here - yes if you choose to start to that date then you'd be right, but you as most can't work out that there was no year zero. So the first year was 1, so at end of year 9 isn't end of decade. Simples”

“I must vote for myself.
Whenever I buy myself a beer I never expect anything in return.
When ever I cook myself food I always do the washing up.
I only ever watch what I want on t.v.
But most of all without myself there would be no me!”

“Year to go - Glos
You need to redo your calculations. If you start from 1st Jan 2000, it is 10 years upto 31st Dec 2009.”

“Thought a decade was 10 years, so perhaps we should be thinking of this in 12 months time”

“I think the people of the decade who deserve not to be forgotten are our brave soldiers fighting in the middle East.
It is doulbly so because they are needlessly being wounded and killed in a pointless war.
But regardless of that they have my utmost respect and admiration. Come home safe, and soon.”
