REGULARS said they have been left shocked by the death of man who collapsed in the pub.

The 29-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital from the Lord John in Stroud on Friday but medics could not save him.

"It's very sad," said one man, who did not wish to be named. "To die before your time like that is very unfair."

He said he was not in the pub when the man collapsed but several in the pub on Monday had told him how saddened and shocked they were at the man's passing.

Yesterday a police spokeswoman said: "At approximately 11.20pm on Friday, February 3 Gloucestershire police were informed that a 29-year-old man had died at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital having collapsed earlier in the evening at a pub in Russell Street, Stroud.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious. The coroner has been informed."

A spokesman for the Gloucester Coroners office said a post mortem examination was likely to take place later this week.

Management at the pub declined to comment.
