Sandiford's sister fears death sentence appeal may not happen
LINDSAY Sandiford's sister has made a desperate plea for help amid fears that the drug smuggling grandmother will not be able appeal against her death sentence. The 56-year-old, who lived for a time in Warden Hill and Hester's Way, will face a firing squad after being found guilty of attempting to bring 10lbs of cocaine into Bali. She lost a High Court appeal for the Government to step in and pay for legal aid on Thursday. Sandiford's sister, Hilary Parsons, has said she now fears the family will not be able to put in an appeal before the February 12 deadline. Speaking to reporters as she arrived for her daily visit to Sandiford's prison cell, she added: "Unless I can get someone to help, I fear the worst for Lindsay."

“She has a large family. Why don't they pay for it. Why is it our responsibility as tax payers, or even more laughably, as charitable strangers?
We have all followed this story as she is from these parts so I do feel somewhat interested in it. As a result of hilary parsons plea I feel moved to donate.
I will happily donate to a cause which helps keep recovering drug addicts clean and rebuilding their lives. NOT to a criminal who has lived very profitably for many years without the slightest guilt or care.
Hilary. If it was my sister I would be far too ashamed to talk to the paper, in fact I would have stepped in long ago to try and put a stop to her actions. However I still would have got the money myself somehow, and would never dream of going begging for such a disgrace of a relative. Get some humility and take responsibility for your own family .”

“She doesn't require a large sum so why not a whip round within the family - presuming they feel she's worth it.”
