SMALL classes have helped this autumn's new intake settle down well to life at Grange Primary School.

The 43 new boys and girls are divided into two reception groups, each with their own teaching assistant and teacher, said assistant headteacher Val Wilton.

"They have settled into school beautifully and made friends, which is always important," Mrs Wilton said.

"We want to make a good start for the children. We believe small groups get them off to the best possible start."

Grange, in Tuffley, has already started reading lessons for the reception year group and "me and my family" is their current topic involving the development of speaking and listening skills, as well as painting.
