Scam letter warning to Gloucester pensioners
SCAM letters are being sent to elderly Gloucester residents.
Pat Scannel, chairman of Tredworth Residents' Association, has warned that he has seen three letters offering pensioners large sums of money if they hand over a small amount of their own cash first.
Mr Scannel, of Parry Road, said: "I was asked in one letter to send £10 off with my bank details and I would get £735,000 in return.
"Most people will see through them, but some may well be taken in by them. They are trying to make money out of vulnerable people."

“The latest scam the Tories are considering is to get pensioners to work for their pensions. Beware, dont vote Tory or you will be out of pocket.”

“If this isn't the same story that has been printed twice before, then how come it even has the same spelling error on 'Scannell'? It also has the same incorrect claim that he is chair of Tredworth Residents' Association. Just how many of these scam letters does Pat Scannell receive? I've never received a single one.”

“honslknjklyt . This is another different scam letter ........... unfortunately , as geraint2010 point out, it's not just letters , but phone calls as well, which can are problematic and nothing seems to be being done to stop them .”

“And then there are nuisance phone calls. Not necessarily scams perhaps, but we get these all the time including some joker who has called our landline number regularly since August - never leaving a message. What's more it is a LOCAL number 01452 229932 - there are complaints about them online but there doesn't seem to be a way of finding out who they are without shelling out money.”
