School's marathon strikes right note for good cause

STRUMMING his ukulele, 17-year-old Callum Timbrell was preparing to do his part for the Balcarras 24-hour musicathon.

Other pupils joined in with guitars, pianos, drums and – the instrument we are all born with – their voices.

It was organised by the Charlton Kings school's thriving music department.

Pupils started at 9am yesterday and the challenge was due to be coming to a finish this morning.

Some of the proceeds will go to the school, while half the money raised will go to support a school in Kenya.
