School's trees block satellite TV signals and sunlight
ANGRY residents say trees at a nearby school are blocking sunlight and satellite TV signals and littering their gutters and gardens with leaves.
Poplar trees at the back of Pate's Grammar School in Hester's Way are infuriating people who live in neighbouring houses in Graham Place.

They say they have repeatedly complained about the trees, which are around 90ft tall and overlook gardens.
Lorna Harper, 39, said the trees had prevented her from getting Sky TV because they blocked satellite signals.

She said: "There was Sky when I moved in in August but the signal was terrible so I called in an engineer. He said he could not get a signal because the trees were blocking it."
Paul Wildman, 64, said that when he and his wife Anne moved to their house 11 years ago the trees were not a problem, but they had grown so tall that they blocked sunlight.
He said: "We complained to the school at the beginning of this year and we went to them again a couple of months ago, and they said they would deal with it but nothing has happened. We would be quite happy if they cut the trees down halfway."
Janet White, 71, said the leaves were like a "snowstorm" when they fell this autumn, covering their gardens and gutters. "The leaves block the gutters, so we are having drainage problem," she said.
Howard Faulkner, 65, said the moisture from rotting leaves had caused moss to grow on the roofs of the houses.
Pate's bursar Stephen Locke said the school was unaware of any issues with the trees, but the residents insisted they had contacted the school.
Commenting on Miss Harper's satellite signal problems, a Sky spokesman said: "Obstruction from trees can occasionally contribute to signal disruptions, however it's unusual for our specialist engineers not to be able to resolve this sort of problem."

“90ft tall poplar trees? Just a guess but I'm thinking they may have been there longer than any of the residents.
As for the Sky signal, almost all installations are what's called "standard", generally low on the house with no extra installation work required. This, usually, means a weaker signal. I would guess that if you paid the extra for a proper installation then you would have a decent signal with no problems. A single row of trees with significant gaps is very unlikely to be your problem.”
