“In what way is the boy "distinctive". Surely it should be a boy's distinctive scooter?

From what I know of young boys it's likely that the scooter was just left wherever he got off it, not necessarily in his front garden. Even if it was left in the front garden, it's almost an open invitation for someone to take it, although the colours of luminous green, pink or purple would certainly make it stand out, even for a girl.

Having a look at a website selling Grit scooters, the price STARTS at £99 and goes up to an eye watering £249. Who, in their right mind, pays that much money for a scooter? Presumably it's insured so I wonder if the insurance company would pay out if the scooter was "stolen" from the garden? There is usually a duty of care attached to insured items and perhaps having it stolen is better, insurance-wise than abandonment but leaving an expensive scooter outside in the front garden is just asking for it to be stolen, still, easy come easy go so they say.”
