Scrap metal dealers and speeding motorists are being targeted in Barton, Tredworth and White City
SCRAP metal dealers and speeding drivers are being targeted in Barton, Tredworth and White City.
Operation Tizer saw police constables, police community support officers, environmental health officers and civil enforcement officers launch a crackdown on Thursday August 22, and the following day.
Measures included the use of a speed van to monitor how fast people were travelling along several roads, patrols around local schools to check for obstructive parking and parking on double yellow lines, and roaming checks for any unregistered waste carriers.
Among the results, 14 people were issued £60 fixed penalty notices by civil enforcement officers for parking on double yellow lines, four people were sent warning letters for being just over the speed limit and four vehicles carrying waste were stopped, with one person fined several hundred pounds for not possessing a waste carrying licence and another warned about the use of a loudspeaker.

Gloucester city councillor Usman Bhaimia (L, Barton and Tredworth) said: "I have seen cars going 60mph or 70mph down Barton Street – it is a real problem.
"Drivers ignore the 30mph speed limit, and the speed bumps.
"We need speed cameras; it is the only way to stop them."
Meanwhile, Councillor Said Hansdot (L, Barton and Tredworth) said: "The scrap dealers are a nuisance at the best of times.
"They have to be licensed. We really need to get on top of it."
In a separate operation in Hucclecote, a motorist carrying waste was also fined for not possessing a waste carrying licence.
Meanwhile, PC Jo Cryer said: "The community has asked us to take action on these issues and that is exactly what we have done."
