The Citizen is helping Richard Graham find the entrants for Gloucester.
He said: "There's a huge amount of musical talent in Gloucester and this is a great opportunity for bands to show the country what we have to offer."
One group going for the top prize is Oui Legionnaires.
Bassist Chris Townsend, from Gloucester, said: "It sounds like a really good platform for up-and-coming bands and aspiring young artists, especially how you have a slightly different age group for some of the categories."
He added:"By inviting the MPs to be involved in the competition, it's a way of turning the government's attention back toward the arts.
"After hearing stories over the past few years of budget cuts in local funding and sectors of the arts this seems like a welcome breath of fresh air."
If you are in a band and have at least one member from Gloucester, or you are a solo act from the city, then we want to hear from you. Simply upload a clip of your music or video to Youtube and send a link to dan.charles@glosmedia.co.uk.
They will then be uploaded to TiG where the readers will vote for their favourite to help Mr Graham find a winner.
The closing date for entries will be February 15. A week of voting will begin on February 18 with the competition closing on February 24.
The categories are:
Best solo act under 19
