Search for missing George Ford stood down for the night
The search for missing George Ford has been stood down for the night.
Airborne police joined divers and officers on the ground as Gloucestershire Constabulary scoured Stroud to find missing George today.
Divers from the Avon and Somerset force swept the Stroudwater canal at Wallbridge from 9.30am to 4pm yesterday, while officers and police community support officers walked the towpath around a mile in each direction.
George, 20, went missing from his Slad Road, Stroud home at 3am on Sunday and police and his family are concerned for the welfare of the Nottingham University student.

The Western Counties force helicopter is flew above the canal and the surrounding area to look for signs of George, and PCSOs handed out leaflets in the town, urging anyone who has seen him to get in touch.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and the Severn Area Rescue Service used boats to conduct a search of the same stretch of canal on Tuesday night.
A Cotswold Canals Trust webcam which usually covers part of the area being searched has been temporarily shut down because of the investigation. Police were unable to confirm at this stage whether any footage from the camera is being scrutinised.
"Avon and Somerset Constabulary's dive team is currently supporting Gloucestershire Constabulary in connection with the search for missing man George Ford," said a Gloucestershire police spokeswoman earlier today. "Mr Ford's family is aware, and other lines of inquiry are continuing."
At 4pm today the search was stood down, and it is expected to resume tomorrow morning.
Anyone who has seen George is urged contact police on 101 immediately. He is white, around 6ft 1in, with brown, wavy shoulder-length hair.
He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt with Hitchhike Morocco on the front, grey combat trousers, a brown satchel bag and black DC trainers with blue detail.
