Alisa said: "She is the best mum ever. She is funny and kind and looks after me. I really like drawing and art and I like drawing pictures of my family, including my dogs, cats, guinea pig and fish."

Alisa, who goes to the school's art club, spent two nights creating her picture.

Mum-of-three Debbie, who works at Alisa's school as a teaching assistant and lunchtime supervisor, was delighted with her prize. "I think it is lovely and I am very proud. We are very close and Alisa has always been very close and likes drawing," she said.

"Homemade gifts are always really special and she is always making me cards that say she loves me, which are really lovely.

"She definitely doesn't get her creative side from me, but my husband and Alisa's dad, Ashley, has a creative family."

More than 50 people entered the Draw Your Mum competition.

Echo editor and judge, Kevan Blackadder, said: "We had some fantastic entries but Alisa's is a worthy winner and shows just how much she does love her mum."
